I long for the day when he tells me, "Mommy, you are my magnetic flux density."

Jeremiah is a hugger and a kisser. He enjoys a good cuddle and will do anything to further endear himself to just about anyone. Mason, on the other hand, stopped allowing us to kiss him on the "leeps" many months ago, much to his dad's and my dismay. We tease him with stories of how when he was a helpless little drooling baby we'd plant slobbery ones all over his face, including and especially his leeps. You should see his tortured expression when we tell him this. We probably remind him of such things too often. Just a perk of being bigger and in charge.

The other day he and I were discussing all sorts of complicated things: how Bionicles are pretty hard to put together, learning to go a little faster on your bike, how it's important to eat fruit and vegetables, love and death. Mason likes to throw more meaty issues in there every now and then to keep my my anxiety level good and high. In all seriousness and with a totally straight face, my Mr Monotone confessed he used to love me. He used to love his dad and his brother as well. Not the case anymore apparently. His only true love, his mistress even, is science. Mason loves science more than his own mommy. I believe I now feel a special kinship with Nikola Tesla's mother.
