Mason Under the Lights

Mason had his track debut a couple of nights ago. It was all him - no disc wheel, no skin suit, no Superman position. He was under geared and out talented, even getting a substantial head start, but I didn't want to tell him what he was up against. The barefoot rider on the pink tricycle was in it to win it - Tom Boonen had loaned her some equipment. Another 4 year old had just finished a Monster and a Gu. We were running on a Filet-o-Fish and chocolate shake. It was all over before they even started. 250 meters sure takes a long time on a Target Piece de la Caca, but I've never seen him smile so big as he came down the home straight. When he finally stopped after going up track in turn 1 to reduce his speed, he told me, "Mommy, I lose-ed. I came in last." I told him he did soooo great. Truthfully, it is a bit of a Frost family tradition to come in last that first race. At least he's got it out of the way. A bit later we hogged the warm up track for a while, and when it was time to pack it in, he didn't want to leave. Guess we'll have to do it again.
