buh buh buh Benny and the...Continental Congress?

Ben Franklin was a smart fella - politician, diplomat, inventor, author, lots of et ceteras. A well-known maxim attributed to him, "...in this world, nothing is certain but death and taxes" is clearly evidence to me he must have been a fairly pragmatic guy. The author and inventor, however, surely had to have had an equal amount of idealism in his blood to have the amazing vision and creativity he did, not that the two are mutually exclusive by any means.

I like his thing about death and taxes, but I think he left out an obvious addition to his short list, so I'll be boldly arrogant and amend the famous saying:

...in this world, nothing is certain but death and taxes. And laundry. Lots of it.
